Learn and Make

Whether you are a complete beginner or a retired professional, there’s something happening here for you.

You must register in advance all our activities. You can book onto any coming events via Humanitix.

We release tickets for workshops, inductions, classes, and events roughly twice a month. As they are volunteer-powered, it depends on our volunteers’ availability if sessions or classes will take place.

If you’d like to be notified as soon as our event goes live, sign up to our newsletter

Book a Bench @ Our Community Workshop

Learn and Make 1

A space for members to book a bench to come and work on your chosen woodworking project.

These sessions are for all levels of experience.

You will have access to:

  • a wide range of large-format tools,
  • an individual workbench,
  • and our volunteers and other members will be happy to guide you through every step of your project.

You must be an Edinburgh Tool Library Member and have an up to date workshop safety induction.

Women & Non-Binary Makers Sessions

Learn and Make 2

A space for women (cis and trans) and non-binary people to work on their own project in a safe and inclusive space.

We believe there is no “right way” to look like a woman or a non-binary person. We celebrate all gender presentations and identities—whether you are high-femme, masculine-presenting, or anywhere in between, you belong here exactly as you are.

You must be an Edinburgh Tool Library Member and have an up to date workshop safety induction.

Classes and Courses

Learn and Make 3

Learn a new skill and make something useful for your home

Most of our woodworking and DIY classes are suitable for beginners.

Members do get 10% discount on all classes but don’t need to be a member to come and learn with us. No previous safety induction required.

Proceeds from these classes go towards running the tool library and subsidising access for people on lower incomes.
